See the "Stop Adani" action by 350.org
WHAT A DAY yesterday was! Thousands and thousands of people turned out around Australia to tell Malcolm Turnbull and Annastacia Palaszczuk to stop the ludicrous $1BN taxpayer loan to Adani and listen to the community who say we must #StopAdani.
We don't need another coal mine -- burning more coal will only lead to more catastrophic climate change, more extreme weather and even more bleaching of the Great Barrier Reef. Coal is killing our planet. Australians are deadly serious about stopping the Adani coal megamine and moving Australia beyond fossil fuels. Yesterday, as many as 20,000 Australians from Darwin to Hobart and from Perth to the Whitsundays came together to spell out #StopAdani for our politicians. It was an amazing thing to watch the images come in from communities around the country!
THANK YOU so much for stepping up. All day, more people came out to say StopAdani than we expected. Event after event reported that the human signs had to be made bigger, the drones had to pull back further and organisers had to wait a bit longer for all of the extra participants to get to their event and take part. National opposition to the mine is huge.
Yesterday was a testament to the power of the people. If you want to see something great, check out the photo album below of #StopAdani events across Australia. The following link will take you to a Facebook album - if you 'like' our page while you are there you'll see more great pics from the Big Day of Action over the next few days and you can follow new campaign developments:
If you went to an event yesterday, let us know on Facebook or Twitter. We'd love to send you a shout out, and this will only amplify the #StopAdani message that is going out across Australia this week. Please use the tags #StopAdani and @350Australia and tell us where you participated. If you have a photo from the day, post it up. We'd love to see it.
If you couldn't make it yesterday, you can still help. We have just received an amazing video capturing some of the movement and colour of the #StopAdani Big Day of Action.
Could you share that with your friends on Facebook and Twitter with the tags #StopAdani and @350Australia? That way you can help us get the message out across Australia: the Adani mine is a mistake for Australia. It is a disaster for our climate, Indigenous rights, human health, water resources and the Great Barrier Reef. Together we will stop this mine!
Once again, thank you for making yesterday the biggest day of action against the Adani mine yet. Together, we can Stop Adani.
